Tegan Monaco Photography

Good friend and neighbour of last month’s feature Sassy Kathy Vanilla Shoppe, Etobicoke native and business owner Tegan talks with us about her passion, services and living in Etobicoke.

Hi Tegan, how long have you been a photographer?

Since a young age, I’ve always had the passion for photography and had a camera in hand everywhere I went. When COVID hit back in 2020, instead of going back to Corporate, I decided to launch my photography business to allow flexibility in my personal life caring for 2 young children. It has been the greatest decision to solely focus on photography and I love every minute working with clients and new families!

What type of photography do you primarily focus on?

I focus on family photography, children’s portrait photography, Corporate headshots and events! With my own studio, I have the opportunity to photograph birthday milestones, maternity, newborn, family sessions, headshots and branding sessions. This past year, a local dance studio in Etobicoke called Dynamic Dance Arts studio, has hired me as their Photographer for events and annual picture day with over 100+ dancers. I also love working outdoors with many clients at different times of the year.

Where do you meet most of your clients?

I meet many of my clients at my studio in Etobicoke, and also outdoors at the parks around the GTA. We are in the process of renovating a new studio space in Campbellville that will be ready in the New Year.

Do you travel a lot for work?

I travel to a variety of Corporate events for photography, as well to local parks to meet families or to a new home to photograph their newborns. I am open to travelling!

Do you have any events coming up (i.e mini shoots, holiday shoots?)

Right now, I’m doing Fall mini-sessions here in Etobicoke at James Gardens and West Deane Park. It has been a fun season to meet so many new families. I will also be announcing my holiday studio dates in early October for November with marketing & promotion on social media.

Is it hard to juggle your business while being a parent?

It definitely is a balance, I take it one day at a time. Having flexibility to plan out my own work schedule helps balance with our family demands. It takes a lot of hard work but is worth it!

When you are not working, what do you like to do on your spare time?

I love to enjoy walks in the park, taking my kids to the zoo, and cycling with Peloton!

You live and work in Etobicoke, what do you love most about it?

I grew up in Etobicoke and always loved the beautiful parks we have right in our backyard to use for photography! Our neighbourhood feels like family. Also, it’s a great neighbourhood with access to get anywhere we need to go.
