When the weather warms up in Etobicoke, there is no shortage of places to find something cold and sweet. While ice cream and soft serve tend to get most of the attention, gelato deserves a spot on the list too, and there are several places around Etobicoke where you can find it.
Some are dedicated gelato shops where the dessert is the main attraction. Others are Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafés or neighbourhood spots that happen to have gelato on the menu, giving you a chance to finish dinner or a coffee run with a scoop.
If you’re wondering where to get the best gelato in Etobicoke, these are some of the places worth knowing about. From small-batch flavours around Humber Bay Shores to pistachio gelato near Royal York, there are more options than you might expect.
Lola’s Gelato – 14B Brookers Lane
Lola’s Gelato is probably the most obvious place to start if you’re specifically looking for gelato in Etobicoke. Located on Brookers Lane in the Humber Bay Shores area, this dedicated gelato shop makes its gelato in small batches and offers a rotating selection of flavours.
The current menu includes favourites such as pistachio, Ferrero Rocher, chocolate, vanilla bean and strawberry, along with more unusual choices such as Dubai Chocolate and Sassy Sea Turtle. There are also vegan and dairy-free options, including lemon, mango and watermelon sorbets, as well as oat-milk flavours such as hazelnut and Not Nutella.
One of the nice things about Lola’s is that the selection can change. The shop maintains a much longer list of flavours than what is available at any one time, so returning customers can find something new rather than ordering the same scoop every visit.
The location also makes it an easy stop if you’re spending time around Humber Bay Shores. Grab a cone or cup and head towards the waterfront for a walk, particularly on a warm summer evening.

Ed’s Real Scoop – 2370 Lake Shore Blvd West
If you are looking for a place that does both ice cream and gelato, Ed’s Real Scoop is another Etobicoke favourite. The Lake Shore Boulevard West location offers gelato alongside its much larger selection of ice creams, sorbets and frozen yoghurt.
Ed’s says its locations make small-batch flavours in-house, with more than 150 ice creams, gelatos, sorbets and yoghurts in its recipe collection. Its standard flavour list includes Tanzanian Dark Chocolate Gelato and Pistachio Gelato, with the latter made using roasted Sicilian pistachios.
The selection is not limited to those two flavours, either. Because Ed’s rotates speciality flavours, the gelato case can change depending on the day and location, which makes it worth checking what is available when you visit.
This is also a good option if everyone in your group wants something different. One person can have gelato, another can choose traditional ice cream and someone else can go with a dairy-free sorbet without having to make separate stops.
La Veranda Osteria – 946 Royal York Road
For something a little different, head to La Veranda Osteria on Royal York Road. This neighbourhood Italian restaurant is better known for pasta, seafood, steaks and other Italian dishes, but gelato has a place on its dessert menu too.
The current menu lists vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, pistachio and almond, raspberry, lemon and mango gelato. You can order one or two scoops, and the restaurant also offers an affogato made with a scoop of vanilla gelato and espresso.
That makes La Veranda particularly appealing if you want gelato as part of a proper meal rather than making a dedicated dessert run. You can sit down for dinner, order a couple of scoops afterwards and turn it into a longer evening out.
The restaurant is located at 946 Royal York Road, close to Royal York Station, so it is also relatively convenient for people in the Kingsway and surrounding neighbourhoods. Its current hours vary through the week, so it is worth checking before heading over.
Chai Stop – 3180 Lake Shore Blvd West
Gelato does not have to come from an Italian restaurant. At Chai Stop on Lake Shore Boulevard West, you can pair a scoop with the café’s Indian-inspired drinks and snacks.
The current menu lists three gelato flavours: Alphonso Mango, Filter Coffee and Lotus Biscoff. Each is priced at $5.99 on the menu currently available online, making this an interesting option if you want something a little different from the traditional chocolate, vanilla and pistachio lineup.
The Alphonso Mango gelato is especially fitting for anyone who likes fruit-forward desserts, while the Filter Coffee option brings together two familiar café flavours in one cold dessert. Lotus Biscoff is another easy choice for anyone who likes the caramelised biscuit flavour that has become popular in desserts and coffee drinks.
Chai Stop’s Etobicoke location is at 3180 Lake Shore Boulevard West, Unit 3. The shop also has notably late hours, with its website currently listing service until 2 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, making it an unusual option for a late-night gelato craving.
850 Degrees Pizzeria – 3455 Lake Shore Blvd West
Yes, you can even get gelato after pizza in Long Branch. 850 Degrees Pizzeria has gelato listed under its dessert menu, giving you an easy way to finish an Italian-style meal without having to make another stop.
The restaurant’s current online ordering menu lists gelato at $7.95. The menu does not currently specify the flavour selection, so if you have a particular flavour in mind, it would be smart to check with the restaurant before visiting.
The Long Branch restaurant has been serving the area since 2014 and is located at 3455 Lake Shore Boulevard West. Its focus is stone-fired pizza, but the broader menu includes pasta, salads, cannoli, tiramisu and other Italian-inspired dishes, making the gelato a natural addition to the meal.
This is probably not the place to visit if your entire mission is to sample ten different gelato flavours. It is, however, a good choice when you’re already having dinner and want a scoop to finish the night.
BEVO Espresso & Gelato – 324 Scarlett Rd
If you’re looking for a place in Etobicoke where gelato is more than an afterthought, BEVO Espresso & Gelato is worth a visit.
Located at 324 Scarlett Road, this Italian-style café combines freshly made gelato with espresso drinks, pastries and a relaxed café atmosphere, making it an easy spot to settle in for a sweet treat.
The gelato menu offers plenty of familiar favourites alongside more indulgent options. Depending on what’s available, you can find flavours such as vanilla, chocolate, pistachio, hazelnut, caramel and cookies, Lotus Biscoff, profiterole and coffee, as well as fruit-based sorbets.
One of the best ways to enjoy BEVO is to pair the gelato with a coffee. An espresso or cappuccino works nicely alongside a scoop, while an affogato gives you the best of both worlds by combining espresso with gelato in one dessert.
Which Etobicoke Gelato Spot Is Right for You This Summer?
If you want gelato to be the main event, Lola’s is the natural starting point. It is a dedicated gelato shop with a rotating selection, small-batch production, creative flavours and several dairy-free choices, and its Humber Bay Shores location is hard to beat for a summer evening.
Ed’s Real Scoop makes more sense if you’re visiting with a group that cannot agree on dessert. Its combination of ice cream, gelato and sorbet means there is something for almost everyone, while the rotating selection gives regular customers plenty of reasons to come back.
La Veranda is the better fit when gelato is part of a dinner out. Its Italian menu and traditional dessert selection make it a good choice for a meal followed by pistachio, chocolate, vanilla or another flavour of gelato.
Chai Stop is worth remembering if you want something outside the usual Italian gelato lineup. Its Alphonso Mango, Filter Coffee and Lotus Biscoff options give the dessert a different personality, particularly if you are already stopping in for chai, coffee or one of its snacks.
And if you’re already at 850 Degrees for pizza in Long Branch, there is no reason to leave dessert for somewhere else. Its gelato is right there on the menu, making it an easy way to round out an Italian-inspired dinner.
