Q+A with Sapan Jot, Owner, Code Ninjas South Etobicoke

At Code Ninjas South Etobicoke, kids learn to code by building their own video games. Their flexible coding programs for kids makes it easy on parents with convenient drop-in hours on weeknights and weekends. During Covid, the centre is offering online programs.

Q. What inspired you to open the business?

A. My kids. 20 years down the lane, when they are ready for jobs, I believe Data and the ability to get information from the HUGE amount of data will be true currency, in every imaginable field of job. We have got to get our kids ready for that future.

Q. Who created the name? 

A. We are a franchisee, the name is stemmed from our belt system of curriculum.

Q. Do you have a background in coding?

A. Yes, I have an Engineering degree in Information Technology from India and a Masters in Statistics.

Q. What age groups do you teach? 

A. We teach kids 5-14 years old. Our goal is to bring the STEM literacy to a higher level in our community.

Q. Do you have specific age groups? 

A. We have 2 programs : JR – 5-9 Years old, and CREATE – 7-14 years old

Q. Do you have to have your own computer? 

A. No, we will provide every Ninja with a desk suited with a laptop, and a screen. In addition to computers, we will also be doing STEM activities like robotics, snap circuits. Everything will be provided at our center.
