This month we are featuring Marina Pacheco of The Golden Leash!

We have known Marina for a long time now, originally when our pugs (RIP) were patients at Marina Veterinary Hospital (no relation) in Mimico, where Marina was a vet assistant. Marina has her own pugs PB & J so we had an instant bond of everything pugs! When Covid hit, Marina decided to start her own dog walking and boarding business.  Marina answers some of our questions about her business and why she started it.

Q. You have a deep passion and love for all animals! Did you have pets growing up?

A. Growing up as an only child, our family pets were like siblings to me. I always strived to understand their way of life so that I could show up for them in the most optimal way. Before Google, I’d beg my mom to take me to Indigo so that we could pick up cat and dog encyclopedias to read (and learn) in my free time.

Q. Can you tell us a little about your business and why you started it? How did you come up with the name, The Golden Leash?

A. I started as a contracted dog walker with a doggy day care in 2016. In the years to follow I worked at PetSmart, Marina Animal Hospital and now Toronto Animal Eye Clinic. It’s the fulfilment I’ve felt each day for the past 6 years following my lifetime of learning in this industry. It just made sense. The Golden Leash represents my untarnishing love and fascination with our furry companions.

Q. What areas of South Etobicoke do you service for dog walking?

A. Lakeshore Blvd W, from Royal York to Marine Parade!

Q. Do PB & J go along with you when you are walking other dogs?

A. Whenever they can! Who doesn’t like a morning/afternoon/evening stroll with friends?

Q. What animals do you board? Dogs? Cats? Any other small animals?

A. Exclusively dogs. Cats prefer their own familiar environment and that’s why I visit their homes as opposed to boarding them.

Q. Do you provide daily visits if clients wanted?

A. Absolutely. In addition, my background in veterinary medicine means I’m happy to administer any medications or adhere to any dietary accommodations required.

Q. There are so many dogs in the neighbourhood! How do prospective clients get in touch with you?

A. I’m available by text 416-670-4657 and email thegoldenleashers@gmail.com 🙂

Your pets will thank you for connecting with Marina!
